Dennis D. Davis
As a laboratory professional, Dennis has 28 years of experience serving in both State Non-profit University and Private Non-profit facilities. Dennis joined the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System (DHRHS) team in June of 2008. Since Dennis has joined the DHRHS team, the department in collaboration with the Hospital Administrative team has relocated and expanded three times, in-sourced Clinical Microbiology – June 2008, Pathology Testing for Surgical Pathology Samples – October 2008, and Core Laboratory Automation for Clinical Chemistry – December 2009. As a part of his professional development, Dennis achieved a Master of Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake, San Antonio and Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. He is certified as Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. The growth under Dennis’ tenure yielded the strategic planning for the development of Renaissance Laboratories in 2011 and the expansion into the 24,000 square foot Renaissance Laboratories Building in October 2013. In an effort to standardize the transfer of information for the Health System, the Department of Pathology transitioned to a new Laboratory Information System in February 2013, Cerner PathNet. Dennis’ area specialties in Clinical Laboratory Sciences are associated with Quality Management, Clinical and Special Chemistry, and Automation.
Saeed has been working 24 years in medical field with over 20 years managerial and supervisory experience. He is ASCP certified MLS. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with Bachelor of Science Degree. He has experience in opening a new laboratory in a hospital setting including, purchasing, validation and implantation of laboratory instruments and equipment.
Saeed has been involved in creating and monitoring Quality Assurance Program , Continuous Quality Improvement and developing department operating and capital budget at different laboratory setting. He promotes the facility's mission, vision and values by effectively communicate them to others and considering these values in services, standards and daily practices.
Justin is a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He is ASCP certified MLS. He has 20 years of Laboratory experience with 15 years of managerial experience. He is a multi-faceted leader with an extensive background of blending clinical knowledge with operating experience to scale healthcare companies for sustainable growth. He has a proven record of success in startup, turnaround and expansion situations, driving improved stakeholder value both organically and through acquisitions. Known for ensuring the highest level of customer service resulting in client satisfaction and business stability as well as instituting effective communication strategies across all levels of an organization.
Jessica’s career in Clinical Laboratory Science started in 2004. She has served in many roles during those 13 years within the laboratory profession. Jessica joined the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System (DHRHS) team in June of 2008 and during her tenure she has served as Medical Laboratory Scientist Generalist, Hematology Supervisor, Laboratory Information System Manager and the Assistant Director, Pathology Department. As a part of her professional development, Jessica achieved a Master of Science Health Science and Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Texas Pan – American, Edinburg, Texas. She is certified as Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. As a key member of the Renaissance Laboratories Leadership, Jessica has overseen the Quality Management Program for the department. She has been the lead for 3 successful unannounced College of American Pathologist Inspection. Jessica’s area specialties in Clinical Laboratory Sciences are associated with Quality Management, Laboratory Information Systems and Hematology.
Martha Luna, MD
Dr. Martha Luna is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical pathology and specializes in Hematopathology. A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Luna received her medical degree from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1993. She continued her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at UTHSCSA. Prior to returning to the Rio Grande Valley in 2009, Dr. Luna served as Medical and Clinical laboratory director in hospital settings of San Antonio and gained vast experience consulting on patients with blood disorders including leukemia and lymphoma. She is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and American Society of Clinical Pathology. Effective treatment begins with the right diagnosis and Dr. Luna is proud to bring her diagnostic expertise home as part of the health care team at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance.
Gregor Stransky, MD
Dr. Gregor Stransky is board certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology as well as Cytopathology. He is fluent in English and German. Dr. Stransky received his medical degree from the University of Vienna in Austria. He completed a residency in anatomic/clinical pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition, he completed a fellowship in surgical pathology and a fellowship in cytopathology, both at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Ravindra Veeramachaneni, MD
Dr. Ravindra Veeramachaneni is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Board Certified in Cytopathology. He graduated from Mysore Medical College, India. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Shreveport, LA. In addition, he completed fellowship training in Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology and Renal Pathology at the same institution. He received his Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 2002 and his Board Certification in Cytopathology in 2004. During his residency/fellowship training, Dr. Veeramachaneni has published numerous research articles in peer reviewed journals that have contributed to accurate diagnosis and appropriate patient care. One such study was diagnosing bladder cancer in urine cytology specimens utilizing fluorescence in situ hybridization, a pioneer study at that time. He has also presented research data at national meetings related to Pathology and Cancer Research. Dr. Veeramachaneni moved to South Texas in 2005, and as part of his first job, he provided Pathology services at two local hospitals. He then relocated to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in 2010 and serves as the Director for Surgical Pathology.
Dr. Veeramachaneni strongly believes in providing accurate Pathology diagnosis. He is passionate about his work and his specialized training in Cytopathology, breast pathology, Uropathology, among others is a great asset to this institution. He also has a special interest in research and is currently working in conjunction with other physicians at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for early detection of Barrett's esophagus.
DeWitt S Davenport, MD - Medical Director
Dr. Davenport is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He is a graduate of University of North Texas with the Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He is also a graduate to the University of Texas Southwest Medical School. As a senior medical student, he worked as a First Aide Attendant at the Dallas City Jail. Residency training included service at Park Memorial Hospital, the Dallas Veterans Medical Center, Children's Medical Center and the Forensic Science institute in Dallas. He arrived in the Rio Grande Valley in 1985 and has lived and worked here since.
Dr. Davenport understands that no patient ever chose a hospital based on who the pathologists are, and therefore works very hard provide excellent service to the patient through the doctors and institution we serve, knowing full well that the patient will benefit. He has special interests in nonneoplastic, hepatic, and molecular pathology. He takes great interest in innovative and novel ways of implementing new services. He is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). He has led a number of inspection teams for the CAP in evaluating other hospital Laboratories in their process of certification..
Richard Keene, MD
Dr. Richard Keene is board certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology, with major interests’ in general surgical pathology, gyn cytopathology & prostate pathology. He was born & raised in Ventnor, New Jersey & completed his undergraduate BS degree in chemistry at Houghton College in western New York State. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, & completed his residency in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University. During his medical training, he spent three months in Scotland preceptoring in cardiology, & three months in India, preceptoring in public health. He served two years as Fairchild Regional Hospital Director of Pathology in Spokane, WA, with the Strategic Air Command, USAF.
He & his family moved to the Dallas area in 1977 where he obtained his Pathology Board Certification in 1977. While in Dallas, he established an independent pathology laboratory – Professional Pathology Services - & a home oxygen certifying company. After 30 years, he retired from these, moved to the Valley & has served as Attending Pathologist at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance since October of 2010. Dr. Keene & his wife of 47 years are the parents of six children & 14 grandchildren.
